Art has always been an important part of my life. I have been
drawing for as long as I can remember. Over the years I have
worked in the areas of sculpture, ceramics and jewelry. Now,
painting has become my main endeavor. Before I retired, I
taught art at the Duluth Minnesota School System.
My education in art consists of a Bachelor of Science in Art
Education from Mankato State College, Minnesota, and a
Masters of Arts in Sculpture from Ball State University, Muncie,
Indiana. I've also participated in workshops with Cheng-Khee
Chee, Joyce Gow, Lee Englund, Ji Ye, Jean Chambers, Tom
Black Scott Lloyd Anderson, and Frank Webb. I am a member
of Oil Painters of America, Southern Arizona Watercolor Guild,
The Transparent Watercolor Society of America, and the Plein
Air Painters of Arizona.
My wife Dianne, also a painter, and I live and work in Duluth,
Minnesota during the summer and in Bisbee, Arizona during the
winter. The contrast of Northern Minnesota and Southern
Arizona offer great challenges for painting the landscape.

I paint in both oil paints and watercolors. Much of my work is landscape.
The human figure and still life are also subject matter I enjoy painting. Most
of my work is done on location. I would consider myself a plein air painter.
